The Office of Fraternity & Sorority Coordinator serves as primary advisor to two of the six governing councils including the Panhellenic Council as well as fraternities and sororities from all six councils, assists the Director in overseeing the Department's services and programs, serves as the Director's designee for selected committees, and provides necessary assistance to department staff in the absence of the Director. This incumbent is responsible for creating and implementing a programmatic plan that complements the Social Greek Letter Organizations (SGLO) that promote the ideals of their organizations, contributes to the mission of UCLA and the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life, while adhering to best practices in risk management and civil behavior. Also responsible for helping to engage all SGLOs together at UCLA and within the larger UCLA community. The Coordinator will be instrumental in helping to create a community that is engaging and positively contributing to the UCLA campus through their experiences within their chapters, participation in learning opportunities in the afforded effort in developing leaders at UCLA and beyond.

The candidate for this position is expected to be a transformational leader for this community and Department while supporting and participating in the Division of Student Affairs training and development. As an engaged team member with colleagues in the Division of Campus Life portfolio, the Coordinator will also be a "bridge builder" with administrators and connecting students to departments and services. The primary purposes of these collaborative efforts are primarily to engage students with the campus community and to cultivate experiential learning opportunities.

Required/Preferred

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited 4-year institution. Master's degree in Education or related field preferred.

Required

Greek experience at the Inter/National level.

Required

Working knowledge of Greek letter social organizations within a large, urban University.

Required

Demonstrated ability to provide leadership development training to college students.

Required

Demonstrated skill in inter-group dynamics, intercultural relations and organizational dynamics.

Required

Skill in prioritizing assignments and completing work in a timely and accurate manner.

Required

Skill in interpreting University of California, Los Angeles, regulations, rules and policies.

Required

Ability to make knowledgeable and appropriate referrals to other UCLA departments.

Skill in student programming and Greek letter social organization internal and external programming.

Required

Demonstrated ability to make effective oral group presentations.

Required

Interpersonal skills to work effectively and sensitively with a large and diverse group of students.

Ability to write effective business correspondence and procedural guidelines.

Ability to implement, evaluate and consult Greek letter organizations on current recruitment programs, trends and procedures.

Ability to interact, communicate and discuss problems, solutions, current issues/trends in regard to local undergraduate chapters, with alumni /associations, housing corporations and regional officers.

Working knowledge of topical issues and problems facing college students and organizations (including substance abuse, sexual assault, liability, etc.)
