Junior Design Engineer
Who are we looking for:
As a designer in the Forage Harvester team, you will work on several functionalities of the vehicle such as: hydraulic or electrical routing, drivelines, feeding, chopping, processing or ejecting and/or general system integration work; for the New Holland brand. You will design Forage components that meet functional performance, quality, reliability, cost and weight objectives. The designers in the team are multidisciplinary but everyone has a dedicated area of expertise to act as a specialist within the team to help your colleagues.

Who are we looking for:
Strongly motivated mechanical system designer with high interest in one of following fields:

  • Electrical routing & integration
  • Plastics & alternative materials
  • Hydraulic routing & integration
  • Field data acquisition
  • Field & Cloud based data processing
  • Good knowledge of basic physics and eager to learn.
  • Hands-on and pro-active thinker
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English language (written and spoken), Dutch language is a plus.
  • Creative initiator with problem solving attitude
  • Teamplayer
  • Ability to travel both domestic and international if needed, typically < 3 weeks/year.
  • (* specifically for the data acquisition function the amount of travel is expected around 8-10 weeks/year)

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Work in an Agile and multidisciplinary environment within product engineering
  • Guarantee close cooperation and support towards the cross functional teams including design analysis, product validation (field test, lab and prototype shop), value analysis, manufacturing, purchasing and suppliers
  • Coordination and communication on regularly basis is key
  • Carry out design work on both new developments and current product improvements for performance, durability and cost
  • Evaluate, interpret, and summarize functional test data.
  • Perform market studies on existing systems
  • Be the owner of different subtasks within projects and be responsible for the correct execution, follow up and delivery of those tasks, according to project targets
  • Active participation in design reviews, FMEA’s, manufacturing reviews

Your key competences and qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Masters Degree in Engineering or equal through experience.
  • Microsoft packages: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams
  • CAD 3D design capabilities (Preferred: Team Center, Creo / Capital and VisMockup)
  • Technical drawing specifications: ability to apply dimensioning, GD&T, part inspection, gaging, drawing notes, manufacturing control measures.
  • Knowledge on materials and manufacturing technologies as machining, welding and sheetmetal.
  • Knowledge of basic simulation techniques (Finite Elements Analysis, System simulations, …) and being able to apply them on designs.
  • Root cause analysis and analytical approach to find solutions for specific problems/issues.
  • Good understanding and feel for quality and cost from an early phase during design activities. Cooperation with (advanced) manufacturing, purchase,

SQE to achieve this.

  • Communicative & organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and organization/control skills.
  • Experience with network client/server architecture
