Have you completed a Master's degree in International Criminal Law or are you planning to do so this summer, and do you want to share your knowledge with our students with dedication and enthusiasm? The Criminal Law section of the Public Law Department is looking for a junior lecturer to work in the master program International Criminal Law.
What are you going to do
Your core tasks in this position are to:
- Teach, in a supportive role to the course coordinator, in various courses in the master International Criminal Law;
- (Assist in) marking exams and other written assignments;
- Support coordination tasks and compiling educational materials;
- Support ICL master curriculum renewal
What do we require
For this position of lecturer we require that
- You have recently completed a Masters in International Criminal Law or will graduate very soon (graduation before the start of the appointment is required);
- You speak and write English at an excellent level;
- You can present well and you keep up with legal developments in the fields of International Criminal Law;
- You organize your work efficiently, you work in a structured way and you can deal with deadlines and peak loads;
- You are interested in following didactic courses;
- You are willing and able to adjust your leave to the schedule of education.
And, we think it is very important that the future colleague is able to work well together in a team.
Our offer
We offer you a position as a lecturer within the Criminal Law Department at the UvA. A varied and challenging job in an ambitious organisation. The candidate will be offered a temporary contract for the duration of 48 months, starting August 15th, 2023.
The salary amounts to a minimum of €2,960 and a maximum of €4,670 gross per month (salary scale 10, CAO Nederlandse Universiteiten) based on full-time employment (38 hours). The UvA also offers extensive secondary employment benefits, including 8% vacation pay and 8.3% year-end bonus. The CAO Nederlandse Universiteiten applies.

The Criminal Law Section is part of the Public Law Department and provides education and research in the field of national and international criminal (procedural) law. The research profile of the members of the section is national, international, comparative and interdisciplinary in nature. Members of the section teach in the bachelor's programme Dutch Law and the master's programme Public Law, track Criminal Law and in the master's programme International Criminal Law. The research of the members of the section is part of the Amsterdam Center for International Law (ACIL) and the Amsterdam Center for Criminal Justice (ACCJ).
